Full Circle Arts is a not-for-profit co-operative of regional artists of all disciplines, whose members work
together to encourage public appreciation of, and education in, the arts.
Exhibiting members display their work continuously in the organization’s
sales gallery in downtown Hickory. Associate members join exhibitors to display
their work in special exhibitions. Full Circle Arts also provides classes and temporary
studio space to its members and to the public.
Claudia Bujold (associate member) is interested in how colors and shapes interact and complement
each other. Classes with Pat Viles and Vae Hamilton have inspired a recent interest in collage.
Paulette Eckard Taylor (associate), works from her eastern Catawba County studio, high on a hill where she is inspired by the beautiful scenery of the Catawba
Valley that lies on either side of the Catawba River. With a degree in both art and education at Appalachian State
University, she has continued to pursue her interest in art by being involved in workshops with Fred Graft and Charles Basham,
noted Ohio artists, as well as Joe Miller, Vae Hamilton, Judy Rider and other southeastern artists of acclaim. She is
represented by several area galleries and participates in shows statewide.
Working in all types of
water medium and loves doing impressionistic artwork, Paulette feels that this type of artwork allows the viewer
to see a subject with their own interpretation and maybe a different perspective that will allow them to relate
it according to their views. As a more whimsical medium, she paints creatively on wooden stools, birdhouses, trays and
furniture with charming little characters (animals, flowers, fish and birds!).
Genie Greenlaw (associate member), began knitting as a child and went on to working with macrame, quilting, crochet, and other off-loom fiber
crafts, but her preferred technique is weaving tapestries on a simple frame. She enjoys the range of expression possible
with tapestry weaving. About ten years ago she learned to spin with a drop spindle and now uses her own hand-spun yarns
in her work. Genie continues to develop her proficiency in spinning with various types of spindles.
Brian
LeGore (associate
member) Brian LeGore is a 20-year-old artist who has been interested in art for most of his life,
but it was in high school that he discovered his love for drawing and painting. In
his freshman year his visual art teacher, Janet Roman, was most influential with her encouraging words and loving style. To meet the challenge of subject matter he turned to graffiti and nonobjective art. Drawing shapes and words whenever possible, he developed his own style, turning shapes
into abstract faces and landscapes. It wasn’t until he was 18 that he fully
understood what an impact color can have on a piece of artwork. It was at this
point that painting caught his attention, specifically faces. He has been painting
for a little over a year now and really enjoys what he does.
P.L. Rhodes (exhibiting member), creates small landscapes to illustrate the spiritual power of the real world by examining its components,
their relationships to one another, and their unity with the whole of the universe.
Ms. Rhodes lives in a little house in the woods in Conover and has won many awards in area and regional exhibitions. For

Ellen Schwarzbek (exhibiting member), has recently returned to making art seriously, creating work that is
informed by many years of art historical study and work in museums. She loves
the magic of art materials, working mostly with acrylic paints, colored and graphite pencils, and various fiber techniques. A major interest is exploring the line between realistic and abstract images.
Adelaide Silkworth (associate member)
Melanie Foster Williamson (associate member)
Melanie's creative work/play takes many forms, from collage to mixed media assemblage and whatever else she can dream up.
Mostly self-taught, she has a desire to learn and a curiosity that keeps her asking what if...? Art is her therapy;
when creating she feels closest to her true self. Much of her inspiration comes from the colors, textures and form of
the natural world. She loves to collect and re-configure found objects. Re-purposing these seemingly mundane objects
and using unconventional materials gives great satisfaction.
Margaret Wise (associate member), began painting with the BBAA in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Although she started out in oil, she soon discovered painting with acrylics. It opened a whole new medium for her and allowed her to use bright colors and move color about at will. Many of Margaret’s paintings also combine collage with acrylic.
